BACTOR-PRO Biological Filter Media

For freshwater & marine aquariums

Rinse before use

Gently rinse the media with clean aquarium water to remove loose dust. Do not use untreated tap water.

Place in the filter

Put BACTOR-PRO in the biological filtration section of your canister filter, sump, HOB filter, or internal filter.

Ensure good water flow

Arrange the media so that aquarium water can flow freely through and around it. Avoid tightly packing or compressing the media.

Use adequate quantity

Use an appropriate amount according to your aquarium size and biological load. More media is not always better—proper water circulation is essential.

Allow beneficial bacteria to establish

After installation, allow time for beneficial micro-organisms to colonize the media. Avoid unnecessary cleaning or replacing during the initial establishment period.

Clean only when required

When the media becomes heavily covered with debris, gently rinse it using removed aquarium water during a water change. Do not scrub aggressively.

Do not clean all media at once

If cleaning is necessary, clean only a portion at a time. This helps preserve the established beneficial bacterial population.

Do not replace the entire media at once

For continuous biological filtration, replace the media gradually rather than removing all established media simultaneously.

Maintain regular aquarium maintenance

Continue normal water changes and filter maintenance. Biological media works best when mechanical filtration is maintained and excessive waste is removed.

Keep the media submerged

Whenever possible, prevent the biological media from drying out during filter maintenance or cleaning.

Replacement

Replace a portion of the media only when it is physically deteriorated, damaged, or no longer suitable for effective filtration. Avoid unnecessary frequent replacement.
